35 Date Night Ideas For Staying In

Whether it is during a pandemic, the kids are in bed, or you just prefer to stay home – you still need to have some amazing date nights with your partner. Dates are critical in maintaining or rebuilding a healthy relationship full of connection. If I had to give one piece of generic advice to couples it is: you have to keep dating your partner. Why? Because regular date nights keep your friendship foundation strong, keep you involved in your partner’s world, grow intimacy, grow communication skills, and maintain other important relationship skills.

It can be hard to come up with new date ideas, so I’ve put in some work to help! At least one suggestion on this list should spark an idea for you guys.

35 Date Night Ideas:

  1. Recreate your first date!
  2. Create a shared vision board for what goals you want to achieve personally and relationally.
  3. Stargazing in the backyard
  4. Purchase some arts and crafts and have your own “paint and sip” experience – you could even follow Bob Ross on YouTube if you want some direction. A bonus is not wondering if they will have your favorite beer.
  5. Host a Netflix movie night party: buttered popcorn, candy, no lights, and cold drinks!
  6. Body art. Use your partner as your canvas.
  7. Make a scrapbook
  8. Blind taste tests – guess what you are tasting
  9. Create an indoor putt-putt golf course
  10. Watch a workout tape together – there are even free videos online or potentially through your gym membership. You could do some 80s Jazzercise for a good laugh for a new HIIT video to work up a sweat.
  11. At-home happy hour with your favorite cocktails. At least you know you’ll like it.
  12. Learn together by watching a Master Class
  13. Cook a meal from a new cuisine
  14. Organize a music playlist to dance together
  15. Play poker – or strip poker
  16. Talk about your favorite hobby to teach it to your partner
  17. Write a love letter – or a lust-worthy letter
  18. Play an online couples yoga video for intimate touching
  19. Listen to your favorite music from when you were younger
  20. Have a Chopped-style cook-off from Food Network. Pick a few items of food and create different dishes
  21. Visit a local brewery and bring some home. Challenge yourself to create food pairings for each beer.
  22. Camping in the backyard. There is no cell service or TV when you’re camping!
  23. A cliché dinner at home, but at a higher level. Dress up for the date night. No more dinner sweatpants!
  24. Play a board game – if you are apart try downloading an app or playing online.
  25. Go on a bike ride together.
  26. Tackle a project together – have you been wanting to paint the dining room? Grab a pizza, enjoy each other’s company, and build a memory around the project.
  27. Have a spa night in – candles, body oil, and couples massages!
  28. Wear pjs around the house and have a pillow fight
  29. Sign up for a meal service (like Hello Fresh) to learn a new recipe. Make it together or make it for your partner before they are done with work.
  30. Go back in time. Create outfits from a decade and have fun with role-play. Maybe you are Cleopatra and want some royal treatment. Or perhaps you create a 50’s diner with a jukebox.
  31. Cook your favorite takeout. Maybe learn how to make pizza dough or how to make lo mien.
  32. Plan your next getaway or dream vacation
  33. Take a shower together after you put the kids to sleep
  34. Sign up for a monthly delivery box like “Catch A Killer” that you can solve together.
  35. Read a book together and reflect on each chapter.
